In 1997, Independent Doctors Traditional Practice Association of the South Bay (INDOC) was created and serves as a nonprofit patient-oriented doctor referral network that is committed to advancing personalized, private, "unmanaged" healthcare.  As a traditional practice association, INDOC comprises a superb network of doctors with a common philosophy.  In essence, "Third party interference between patient and doctor should have no place in the practice of medicine".

Disillusionment with "managed" care has driven many individuals to seek other options.  Until now, these patients had no way of identifying quality doctors whose practices were built upon the principle of providing truly personalized medical attention.

INDOC embraces the advent of Health Savings Accounts (HSAs) .  The federal government, as well as, several blue chip insurance companies are now offering HSAs that finally provide the individual the freedom to "manage" one's own healthcare dollars directly.  INDOC strongly endorses this alternative to "managed" care because it empowers policyholders themselves with the responsibility to spend their own medical dollars as they deem most appropriate.

Independent Doctors Traditional Practice Association of the South Bay is affiliating with similar traditional practice associations around the state including Independent Doctors of California.  INDOC, as well as Independent Doctors of California, are not involved in providing health insurance, PPO, or HMO contracting.  The only purpose of INDOC is to restore and promote the once-sacred direct relationship between patient and doctor.

INDOC recognizes other doctors of high caliber who are philosophically behind our principles of practice, but are currently financially involved with "managed" healthcare. INDOC has welcomed a select group of these doctors who are thoroughly committed to providing personalized medical attention to all patients.  They also believe in our principle, "Third party interference between patient and doctor should have no place in the practice of medicine" .
