Practice Description:

Dr. Peter S. Borden began practicing Orthopaedic Sports Medicine in the South Bay in 2001 after completing a fellowship in the non-operative and operative treatment of athletic related injuries. Since then, Dr. Borden has become a top shoulder and knee surgeon in the greater Los Angeles area with a special focus on treating musculoskeletal injuries of cartilage, ligaments, muscle, and tendons. His true expertise lies in the minimally invasive arthroscopic treatment of shoulder, knee, elbow, and ankle injuries. By performing major reconstructive procedures through the arthroscope, patients can go home the same day of surgery with the advantages of decreased pain, improved cosmesis, and faster rehabilitation.

Dr. Borden has extensive experience caring for sports related injuries at all levels of participation including: professional, collegiate, and high school. Dr. Borden treats patients of all ranges from children to the elderly and is also well trained in the treatment of complex fractures, general orthopaedic problems, and joint problems of a degenerative nature. 

Billing Information:

Dr. Peter Borden's practice is dedicated to providing his patients with the highest possible level of care. He currently participates in the following health care systems: Workman's Compensation, Indemnity Insurance, Cash, most PPO and Point of Service Programs, and Medicare. All cash patients are given a discount for payment at the time of service. He does not accept HMO, Medicaid, or Medi-Cal insurance plans.

Medical Education:

Dr. Peter Borden graduated from Colby College in Waterville, Maine in 1989. He attended and completed his medical school training at the George Washington University Medical School in Washington, D.C. from 1991-1995. Internship and Orthopaedic Surgery Residency were completed at Harbor-UCLA Medical Center in Torrance, California from 1995-2000. In June of 2004, Dr. Borden served as an instructional lecturer for an arthroscopic shoulder course and performed a live surgical technique demonstration of an arthroscopic repair of the rotator cuff for other orthopaedic surgeons with an interest in updating their surgical skills and knowledge.

Contributions To The Medical Community:

Dr. Borden is currently a volunteer faculty member at Harbor-UCLA Medical Center for the purpose of teaching residents the latest concepts and surgical techniques in the field of sports medicine. He also works with several local high schools as the on and off field team physician. In an effort to educate other physicians as well as the public, Dr Borden performs various lectures throughout the year on topics in sports medicine.
